Irresponsible
handling and disposal of hazardous waste throughout the US is one of
the major concerns in contamination of our aquifers. Failures to enforce
strict guidelines and failure to comply by companies have created hazardous
substances that will take decades possibly centuries to clean up.
The nation’s worst hazardous
waste dumps are leaking toxins into the ground -(about 4 out of every
5 sites)! Homeowners fertilizing lawns are also poisoning the water.
Other major sources of pollutants include discharges from industries
into waterways, chemicals dumped down household drains & storm runoff
from city streets.
Tracking down all the
different chemicals being discharged into our environment is difficult and
costly. Evaluating the health effects of one single chemical is
challenging if not controversial when two or more chemicals are combined
the effects can be even more lethal! Another problem exists even if our
water treatment plants were successful in cleaning up our water...
Corroded plumbing!
Service lines entering our
homes are often made of lead which over time corrodes and dissolves back
into our water. Many of the fixtures in our faucets also contain lead. 98%
of our homes use old lead pipes and state regulations permits utility
companies to flush the lead filled water out of household plumbing &
service lines before testing the tap water for lead content thus
falsifying the actual findings.
Asbestos is present in our
pipe lines and is too costly to remove from underground pipes. Even
with the use of dangerous substances (Chlorine sometimes Chlorine chlorine/ammonia)
to disinfect our water, still the present of Cysts (include microscopic
worms-parasites-protozoa in which most popular Giardia & Cryptosporidia)
are sometimes found in our water supply.
Contamination outbreaks in
municipal water supply, “Uncontrolled violation, of excess pollutants
dumped freely, “Lack of enforcement guidelines,” Non regulated bottled
water control.. Alternative drinking water is almost a mandatory
individual responsibility.
It is logical
to conclude that any amount of contaminants found in our drinking water
can and will effect out health. Testing your water can be very expensive
and then it is only a sampling of the water during an isolated, specific
point in time. Chemicals in the water can show up in higher concentrations
depending on what time of year they are being used. You could apply
the hundreds of dollars it will coat to get a water testing report towards
a good water purification system and be rest assured it is money
well spent with a positive solution.
